We wanted to build a marketplace where people could buy an annuity, not be sold one. The award acknowledges a mission Caudill set out on six years ago: to build the most complete, transparent annuity information portal available to the public — one that lets consumers find the best fixed annuity rates and do their own research before ever speaking with a salesperson.
"Annuities are one of the most important purchases a retiree will ever make, and for a long time the only way to get real numbers was to sit through a sales pitch," said Caudill. "We wanted to flip that. Everything we've built over the past six years comes back to one idea: clients shouldn't have to be a lead before they can learn."
Seventeen Calculators, Built From Experience
At the heart of the platform is a suite of 17 annuity calculators, each designed by Caudill and drawn from his 20-plus years distributing annuities. The tools cover fixed and multi-year guaranteed annuities, immediate income, deferred income, and future income planning, allowing visitors to enter their age, state, and investment amount and receive live, personalized quotes — the same figures that were once available only after an advisor appointment.
The calculators are backed by a normalized multi-carrier database covering more than 90 insurance companies and 1,500 annuity products, with rates updated in real time through carrier data feeds. Visitors can compare up to three products side by side across rates, guarantees, surrender schedules, and income features.
"Every calculator on the site exists because a real client once asked a question I couldn't answer with the tools that were out there," Caudill said. "So we built them ourselves. Six years later, there's still nothing else like it."
Transparency as the Standard
My Annuity Store requires no registration to access its research. Carrier brochures — more than 300 of them — financial strength ratings for 791 insurers, and educational resources are all freely available. Commissions are disclosed publicly on individual product pages, a practice that remains rare in the annuity industry.
The approach has changed how consumers use the site. Average visitor sessions have grown from roughly 90 seconds to nearly five minutes, platform traffic is up approximately 300 percent since the start of the year, and more than 200 customers have returned for additional business. The site is built to inform, not to pitch — and the numbers suggest visitors can tell the difference.
What's Next
The company is continuing to expand the portal with interactive learning courses, quizzes, and video guides, with a particular focus on making indexed annuities easier for retirees to understand. Andy, the company's AI assistant trained exclusively on its own product database and carrier documents, now answers product and state-specific rate questions with cited sources.
